Dear Community Member,


            For over 30 years, the Alaska Family Health and Birth Center has been providing prenatal, birth, and postpartum support along with ongoing well-woman care in the Fairbanks area. We are continually striving to provide the best evidence based care and support available in the safest environment possible. We are gearing up for our annual fundraiser on the 4th of October at The Lighthouse @ Door of Hope Church on Fairhill Rd. from 6-9 pm. This fun evening with a provided light supper will feature stories about our birth center, our history, and our plans for the future, along with entertainment and silent and dessert auctions. Our purpose in hosting this event is to highlight the Birth Center’s role in our community and share our purpose of Transforming Families Through Birth. Secondly, it is our desire to bring fellowship and communication among the many beneficiaries of our services and our partners in the community that are also striving to provide excellent care to families. And finally, we hope to inspire people to financially partner with us so that we can continue to improve our services and positively impact families through their birth experiences.

Our primary need is currently for underwriters for the event. All donations for underwriting are tax deductible, and if made before the 27th of September will be recognized in the event program. Underwriters help us ensure we can put on a successful event that people will enjoy and that will raise awareness of our work in the community. Please contact us as soon as possible if you are interested in becoming an event underwriter. We are also available to visit with you personally if you would like more information about our non-profit organization or our event.

We are also looking for donations for both the silent auction and dessert auction. Silent auction items in the past have included local artisan items, handmade gifts, gift certificates, local adventure trips, baby items, baskets, and other wonderful gifts. Silent auction contributors will also be recognized in our program if donations are made by September 27th. The dessert auction will be a live event featuring desserts made by our lovely midwives and donated desserts from our friends in the community. If you would like to donate a dessert, please let us know so we can plan our auction accordingly. We greatly appreciate all of our auction contributors and our supporters!

We would also love to extend an invitation to you to attend this year’s event as a table host. As the host of your table, you would be asked to bring 6-8 people to the event that you feel would be interested in becoming supporters of the Birth Center and their mission to transform families through birth, or that have worked with and been blessed by the AFH&BC in the past. We also have seats available at open tables if you would like to attend without being a table host. While there is no financial obligation to attend the event, we will be soliciting donations at the close of the event in addition to the auction opportunities. If you are interested in becoming a table host or in attending our event, please contact us and we would love to sign you up.
