BOLD Fairbanks!

There will be a local presentation of "Birth" in Fairbanks at the
Artisan's Courtyard in April (the first two weekends). Birth is a read-on play dedicated to growing awareness for Mother-friendly birth practices.

There will also be an Art Show running in conjunction with the Play
called "Loving Kindness". This show will be a First Friday event, at
the Artisan's Courtyard.

Proceeds from this event will go to benefit the AFH&BC.

We NEED volunteers to help pull this off!

- art show team (talk to artist, help with the putting up of the show,
helping with the First Friday event)

- talk back panel team (to reach people before and make sure things
are going smoothly when they happen).

If we can get between 1 and 3 persons for each it would be
great!!!!!!!!!

ALSO: I know there are still parts available to "play" in Birth, and
that we're still looking for artist's submissions for the art show.

Building Our Community- Fundraising Dinner February 23, 2010

Alaska Family Health and Birth Center's annual fundraising banquet was a great success thanks to the support of our wonderful community.

Last spring, Martha Hanlon (Martha Hanlon Architects, Inc.), Daniel Holmgren( ThotPro Structural Engineering), Helena Rueter (Rueter Engineering),Evan Roberts (Roberts-Kaneko Electrical Consultants, Inc.), and Gary Jenkins, Civil Engineer were hired to design the building.  While Grady Brown continued dirt work during the summer, our design team worked to finalize the blue prints of the building.   Grady was able put in the driveway and part of the main parking area, thanks to a generous donation of gravel from Mick Killion (Killion Land Co).

This winter, we are in the process of pulling permits to to be able to jump into building the foundation and framing the building this spring!

We are continuing to gather resources for our building project.
